Hey guys as the subject says I'm looking for a new intake. Yesterday I was on my way to a show and the pos APC intake I put on breaks for the second time. Once again I find out you get what you pay for the hard way. Give me some of your opinions on which intake you like. So far I'm leaning toward a AEM cold air, but I am open to suggestions. Thanks for your help.

Damn dude I did use the search first, and I didn't find anything that I felt was of any help to me. So lets try this, has anyone else had problems with their intakes. Such as the intake falling off the mounting bracket. This is the problem I have had in the past. Not the whole filter sliding off the tube but the filter breaking off the mounting plate. Any helpfull info would be great, anything please keep to your self.

I never had any problem with my AEM CAI falling off or coming loose.

Ive never had any problems with my aem cold air intake and its been on there for two years. I got scareda couple times about deep puddles though. They make a bypass valve for them so u dont have to worry. AEM the best or damn close to it:thumbsup

I have a generic CAI that is the same as an AEM intake...my mounting bracket broke off and broke a hole the size of a nickel in the wall of my intake. Its duct taped for now but Im going to be getting another one soon. AEM is the way to go but get a true CAI not a shorter one. Make sure it reaches down to near the bottom driver side hole in the bumper.

i say get the injen race division cai. i've heard lots of good things about it. i got the aem cai and i haven't had any problems with or without the bypass valve.

Nobody said anything about it, but Iceman CAI's are good too. They're made of plastic, but to me it's worth it, since aluminum pipes get hot from underhood heat. Kind of hard to find, I had to search for a week to get mine. Check em out.

I was wondering about that. Do you think the intake can get heat soaked? If so how do you battle that?

they have heat shields to get for the filters, but Ive heard from some sites that the Iceman performs the best in magazine tests. I got a used V2 thats pretty much brand new, but if I was staying n/a , I woulda probably put the Iceman intake in my engine bay.

Bah....save yourself all sorts of cash and get an ebay intake. I got mine for $60 to my door and it works jus the same as the rest. Never fallen off, filter is fine, and the only reason i have rubbing problems is because i was too lazy to mount it right :thumbsup. Plus the fact that i can take it apart and make a ram air if its raining like whoa or there is a flash flood or sumthin, i can. If you wanna be cool, you could even spring the extra $25 or so and get the K&N filter that, i believe, comes with the AEM one :thumbsup

EDIT: Oh yeah, I've had mine for almost a year and kept it on through the winter and have had no probs at all.
