56869, Push accelerator and the car dies? Posted by Therein10, Aug-08-03 06:09 PM
I had just redone the fuel system on my 96 Talon in order to
adjust and tune fuel pressure. We had the car tuned for 24lbs
of Boost and it ran amazing for two days. Then on the third
day I floored it Boosted in first and then shifted into second
gear where the car just fell on its face and died. From there
on it will idle but when I give it more than 15% throttle the
car just dies. I can't see any vacuum leaks and the fuel
pressure is remaining constant. If anyone has any ideas I
could really use the help?

Check you MAP sensor and MAP sensor wiring....
If you have no MAP signal, the car will do just as you
describe.... idle ok... but die when you give it gas...
You got an SAFC? Check that the MAP is working if you do...
check for bad connections also...

Well I disconnected the harness to the map sensor and it
seemed to run better until I floored it and then it popped.
However that seemed normal since when u disconnect the map
sensor the car is suppose to run full rich. Therefore I
thought it was the map sensor, but I just picked up a new one
and it does the same thing.
Has anyone delt with 48lb injectors-Is maybe 20psi of base
fuel pressure a bad number?-Is 95psi of fuel pressure way to
much under boost?-Has anyone had anymore wiring melting
problems like the EGR one? Any ideas would again be a huge
help.

ok well its been several weeks now on trying to figure this
out and still no luck. i havent been able to check the cel's
because i can't drive it and i wired the cel to the battery
light in order to pass emissions. does anyone know what the
car does if it has a bad TPS sensor. Anyone know about the
evaporative system if that could affect the car. Or even maybe
any problems with the S-AFC.
I cant find anything wrong with the fuel even though it seems
like a fuel problem. I cant find any vacuum leaks. All of the
wires seem fine.
Anyone have any idea????????????????????????
