Posted by Eclipse97, Aug-05-03 12:01 PM
I need to take off the stock downpipe in order to weld on a new flex pipe section. any tips/tricks in doing it in a way so that I could put it back on in a day?

thanks.

with a jack and two jackstands, some air tools, and some liquid wrench, id give about a 2hr estimate if its your first time. i remember taking of the stock exhaust manifold, omg those bolts are in some gay places. goodluck. ive got pics around here somewhere if u want em.

If you have PB blaster put some of it on the 4 bolts a day before, then some right when you take those bolts off. Use a large extension and breaker bar and go at the exhaust manifold to DP from underneith the car, and the DP to cat bolts and it shouldn't take more than 15 min....

Must be nice! :P

When we went to pull mine to install my header, one of the bolts at the cat was so fucked up that we had to climb under the car with a Dremel and cut the bitch off. Grrrr! John and I went through about 4 cutting discs and about 2 hours just on that one bolt! :o

If you have no troubles, it shouldn't take more than a couple hours.
