56570, should i port match my upper intake manifold with my mp tb? im asking this because im not getting my head portmatched yet. Posted by Vinh766, Aug-04-03 09:12 AM
i know, i know i'ved searched a lot of this subject and all but i didn't get the answer im looking for. im getting my mp 60mm tb in the mail any day now and i was wondering if i should port match the (upper) intake mani part that connects to the tb. i don't have the money for a full port and polish rite now, like matching the head and all, i was wondering if it would make a difference at all since i am not doing the head yet. or should i just leave it and do it all at once. im asking this because since i am taking my tb off to replace it with the new one, i thought maybe i can take off the upper manifold and dremel it out, and it shouldn't be that hard, rite? TIA

I would have it done now. I have heard that porting the head could actually decrease power, but I am no expert on this matter, just passing on what I have learned on here.

Didn't some people have to weld on extra aluminum to be able to port the whole 60mm? I thought I remember reading that...

Yep, the stock upper intake manifold will not be able to give a true 60mm opening.

From what I understand if you're NT then 60mm is overkill anyhow.

i didnt and i still felt an amazing increase in throttle response. should have a completely ported manifold very soon pending certain local deals...

i just talked to motofool and he said the opening can be ported to 60mm without any extra welding. :thumbsup thank goodness. i've got 2 complete manifolds sitting in my best friends basement. :)
