5650, Overheating Problem!! Please Help
Posted by Ed96GS, Aug-29-01 11:13 PM
Hey guys i seem to have a problem my car keeps overheating..Here is what i have looked at so far. I have looked at the water and it has enough. I also see that both of the cooling fans are working, i know it is not the thermostat because i took it off before so the car has no thermostat on it. I dont know what else it could be, i though it may be the water pump. But here is the catch, it only seems to happen when i am stopped, as soon as i accelerate and the car starts going, the temperature goes back down to normal. Does anyone know what it could be.

Thanks,
Eddie

FIRST, You should NOT RUN WITHOUT a thermostat. NOT a good idea.
It sounds like your fans are not working properly. When you are idleing , at a standstill ,with the hood up - are the fan/fans running? If keeping cool when driving, fans are PROBABLY the problem.
