I have a 99 eclipse and I'm concern with one of the pulleys. My pulley that lies next to the reservoir tank seems to have too much play when it's spinning. A friend of mine who also has an eclipse check it out and said I should have it checked. The same pulley on his eclipse doesn't move anywhere near as much as mine. He said he had the same promblem on another car of his and after about a month or two the belt snapped and had to get the belt and pulley replaced. He also said he had a squiking noise coming from the engine before the belt snapped, and the noise is similar to the noise that's coming from my engine. I don't remeber the pulley wobbling about 3 months ago and that's when the noise began, maybe longer. Does it need to be tighten? or replaced? or something else?

Thats the power steering pump Pully. Mine wobbles a little...i think it's a thing our cars do..I've seen quiet a few like it also....

I have thrown a few belts in my time to, I believe mine is from high revs though..:thumbsup

Check the fluid level in the PS system. If its too low, the pump can wear which will cause excessive play in it.

I won't be able to check the fluids untill tommorrow, but let's say the PS pump did take some wear, should I be caution and replace it soon.

Replace it when it breaks. it's not like the car won't drive with no PS.

Hey.. that's not even a problem to worry about.
ANd it's easy to fix as in 1,2,3.

It's just the power steering (like others said ^^^)

You just have to tighten the pulley screw and also tighten the pulley front screw...
the front screw will make the tension of the belt tighter making the sqeaking sound to go COMPLETELY away.
and the screw at the side is to make the pulley won't warp around.

That's all you have to do.
No cost or anything, just tighten 2 screws.
