56427, Exhaust and TB question Posted by BumpinTool, Aug-01-03 01:24 AM
I bought RActive exhaust for my 99 GS. It sounds okay and all but has a lot of interior sound which I didn't notice until driving from Alabama to St Louis and back. Thought my head was going to explode when I got tired of the radio and cut it off. Anyway, does Borla make any exhaust that would sound good on a GS? Or is there any other exhaust that someone recommends? Also, I just read about a jeep throttle body. Who can hook me up with one of those? Or is it just a standard throttle body off of a jeep? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

EXHAUST - I have a Pacesetter 4-2-1 with the stock cat etc to a MagnaFlow universal offset muffler and it's rumbly, but at about 75-85mph now, it's almost silent. Just a thought there.
TB - you should do a search on this. There is all kinds of info about this on here. I will tell you that it's the 60mm TB off the 6 cylinerd Jeeps. Cost depends on where you get it and how expensive the salvage yard is.
Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I have a 4-2-1 header also. I'm not sure who its made by. Came on the car when I bought it. A friend of mine was looking at it and could tell thats what it was. I'll take a look around at some junkyards and find me a throttle body. I've heard it makes a whistling sound. Some dude said he scared off a Z28 with it. Does it sound like a turbo or something?

I have a greddy cat-back and it sounds fine...one thing you might want to check is to see if the bolts for the muffler(that connect it to the exhaist pipe) have come off, because that happened to me and the interior noise was aweful. Now that its reconnected I have no problems whatsoever.
Here's a link to a how to on the jeep TB switch: http://www.dimensia.com:81/jimbo/JeepTBfor2gnt.html
Hope that helps.
