56295, Going Homemade turbo let me know if I'm missing anything

Ok after talking to a few friends and discussing what is all needed I need to ask some of you boosted 420a guys they're thoughts.

The parts that I have as of right now are...
98 GSX 550cc injectors
98 GSX stock sidemount
98 GST T-25 with no shaftplay

I'm having fabricated the piping that I need for a decent price I think he quoted me 250-300 dollars for it all, I dont think that is including the downpipe but I know a guy who can help me with that along with the exhaust.

Now then I need to know what type of FPR to use with it all, what other supporting mods would I need, and what PSI do you guys normally run at? I'm thinking like 5-6 PSI on the NA 420a ( correct me if I'm wrong. )
Also I'm still looking at the Final Drive Mod and thinking about the 60MM TB which I dont know if that will complicate the install.

Basicly I'm looking at this being the first & last major engine mod that I do, otherthan basic upkeep with the car, ( I.E. oil change, Timing Belt and what not. )

So let me know what I'm missing.

:)

(stretches)

ok... first off, those injectors are way too much, second, they need a resistor pack, third, i think that the 2g smic is facing the wrong way for the side that you have to mount it on. not sure really. ok.

next.

since you have the t-25, you need a custom manifold. you need a s-fmu. sell those 550cc injectors. get like 30lb ford, or 310cc. you need to fuel setup (lines, fittings) you need missing link, and oil lines. im prolly missing something, but someone else can fill me in.

wastegate,blow off valve,oil lines,down pipe,

i'm buildin my own turbo kit too..but i'll be boostin about 20-25 more psi than u...with a t3/4...if they will boost that high...if not i'll find a good turbo that will

cai,p&p tb,msd coil pack and 8.5mm wires,plat+4 plugs,header,high flow cat,dual dtm styl muffler,final gear mod,and shift kit

The most complex thing about making your own kit is the fuel system. You have a 99, so you have a returnless system. For that, youre going to need:

Vortech SFMU
Metal / SS Fuel Return Line
Rubber fuel hose for connections
Inline Fuel Filter for pressurized fuel systems
All the appropriate AN fittings

As for the AN fittings, youre going to need at least (this doesnt include a fuel pressure gauge):

-4AN Female > Hose Barb (from fuel rail to hose)
Hose Barb > -6AN Female (from hose to SFMU)
-6AN Female > Hose Barb (from SFMU to return line)

Thats for the SFMU connections, the rear connections will depend on how you run your feed and return connections.

If youre gonna run a -6AN SS line, then you wont need the last AN fitting because the line will bolt into the SFMU. Also you dont technically "need" injectors, but its highly recommended. You really dont want to push 100+ psi of fuel pressure on your stock injectors.

As for the rest of the kit, youre going to need an exhaust manifold. Youre going to have to get one custom made using (correct me if im wrong) a 7cm Mitsubishi Flange. Then youre going to have to fabricate the downpipe, as well as the intercooler piping. Youre also going to need a blow off valve, and a missing link (to avoid fuel cut and damaging your MAP sensor). Dont forget all the gaskets, vacuum hoses, silicone connectors, clamps, etc. that you will need to attach and mount everything.

As for the oil lines, youre going to have to get some OEM 2g turbo fuel feed/return hardlines (the ones that run from the turbo to the block on the 4g63, and vice versa). But since you dont have a 4g63, youre going to have to hack them off and make your own connections to your block and oil pan (you can use rubber oil/fuel hose). Also dont forget the oil pan bung. Youre going to have to tap the oil pan so that the oil can drain out of the turbo. (this is kinda hard to explain, IM me and I can help you out more)

You dont need an external wastegate, t-25's have an internal one. Youre also not running enough boost to facilitate an external. Some turbos (such as the t3) do not come with internal wastegates, so an external is a must for them. You can probably leave the boost pressure at the stock level (11-13 psi I believe) because the t-25 is such a small turbo.

I hope this has helped you some. I also hope that I didnt fudge anything up and made myself look stupid :) If you have any questions post up or hit me up on AIM @ NeoVB, I can help you out. I designed my own custom turbo kit so I can answer a lot of your questions. If I said something wrong someone correct me.

in other words..... sell all the shit you have now, and buy a turbo kit, unless you want a pain in the ass job.

Yep, its a lot simpler to buy a premade kit. But you WILL pay more. Plus, you learn SO much more when you actually put your own kit together. Also, build it yourself and you have a kit thats made for your car - your own fuel management, your own turbo size, your own custom everything :) Thats why I did it...

I never understood why they put a super16 or a t3 in thier stage 1 kits... It just doesnt make sense to run such a big turbo at 6psi.
