56156, annoyingly high idle

im having that annoyingly high idle again for the second time. at idle in neutral the car stays at 2k rpm until i come to a complete stop, then it fluctuates between 1k and 2k. the first time this happened i melted some wires on the egr tube. this time that is not the case. i checked the wire harness over the egr tube and there were no melted wires. i also tried replacing my throttle body gasket. also no luck. my throttle body itself is clean and i cleaned out all the sensors. what else could the problem be other than bad IAC sensor? tia.

I would have to guess at either a MAP sensor, IAC sensor, Throttle Position Sensor, or a vacuum leak.

I had a bad vacuum leak(hose where PCV meets the intake manifold cracked)...it did the same thing as you were saying.
I just replaced my MAP sensor, becuase it went on me... Runs the car rich, and fouled the plugs. Car seems to run a whole lot better.

If it isn't a vacuum leak, then I would have to guess at the TPS or IAC. I am replacing both in a week or 2. My car stays at 1500rpm until i come to a comeplete stop. Then it go's back to normal idle.

Someone else could probably help better than I have.

i appreciate the reply... as weird as it sounds, i was down a quart of oil so i added a quart and everything is fine now. anyone know why this would happen?
