56066, Non-turbo now, want a turbo later, what are best cams for now and later Posted by GS_NOOB, Jul-26-03 01:02 PM
I want new cams... and I have been thinking so far all the mods I have done besides the lightened pulley, will go bye-bye when I put on my turbo kit. With that said, will I need a different set of cams while i'm N/A, and then go turbo or is there a set that will work for both N/A and turbo? Or should I just wait till I get a turbo and then do it??? Im so confused with this stuff...
Thanks guys

the best would be to wait but if you can't don't one thats too crazy then, just a mild one would do.

The "turbo" cams, the Crane #14s, should work with both setups, if you analyse the duration, lift, and lobe center specifications.
Even though they are set up to help with boost, they should still give more power to a naturally aspirated car just becaue of the more agressive lift and duration.

Yup, if your plans are turbo go with the 14's turbo grind. If you get a set of adjustable cam gears, you can tune in some overlap while you are NA and get more out of them in both set ups.

Smooth idle? We don't need no stinking smooth idle.
