ok well here's the damn problem. i put in this little piece of shit "chip" in called a g-box (i figured, what the hell it's 38 bucks, why not just try it out). well shame shame shame on me. i'm f'n retarded. anyways i installed this little bastard. it requires you to find the IAT sensor, snip the wires and splice the chip in before the plug. well 1, i'm retarded enough to put this thing in in the first place,(shame shame shame) and 2 my friend and i were bullshittin' while i was doing this so no only was i putting something stupid on my car, i was doing it wrong. i crossed the damn wires, red to black, black to red. yes i'm a dumbass, feel free to let me know again, because i'm sure there's alot of names i forgot to call myself. obviously i took the stupid hunk of shit out and twisted the right wires back together again. but now my check engine light is on. of course. my car idles like shit and it's mildy sluggish when i step on the gas. correct me if i'm wrong but i thought those wires send about 4.7volts to the ecu. and i know that the computer's real pissy about that singnal thats being sent. i'm thinking the twisting of the wires together had just enough effect on the current to throw those volts off by a tiny bit and now the computer is having a hissy fit. from my keydance i got 12-24-55. 12=normal 24=Throttle position sensor voltage low/Throttle position sensor voltage high 55=no more error codes. please help. correct me if i'm wrong, and even more importantly give me some possiblities as to what could be wrong. TIA

disconnect your battery and reset the code and let us know if it comes back on. just so ya know no chip or control box works on our cars except for something like a safc. if this dosent solve your prob then replace the tps cuz there is obviously something screwed up with it.

go to autozone and get a new tps sensor.

I had a bad tps sensor due to my headers and i replaced it and haven't had a problem yet. its been about 6 months. the sensor is like $44 plus tax as i remeber. good luck -Scott

will doing the keydance reset the code? after i did the key dance, the light went off, but i haven't started my car since i've done the key dance, i'll go do that right now and i'll let my car idle for a little and i'll tel you what happened.

BTW i had the negative battery terminaly disconnected for about 25 mins. and it was still on, but that was before i did the keydance.

nope, i started the car and it still came on. if i was screwing with my IAT sensor, why would the TPS be throwing codes? one more thing, where is the TPS?

The IAT(Intake Air Temperature) sensor is on the back of the manifold. It reports the intake air temperature to the computer.

The TPS(Throttle Position Sensor) is, oddly enough, located right on the throttle body. If you're looking at the engine bay - its on the back side of the TB - toward the firewall. It reports the throttle position to the computer.

I mean the first thing I thought of when I was reading your initial post was - did this guy cut into the wrong freking sensor? Cause usually those POS "performance "chips"" usually have nothing to do with the TPS...but you're having problems with the TPS. I'll reserve judgement on the whole dumbass issue till you can tell me - Did you splice into the TPS sensor instead of the IAT sensor?

the tps is on the back side of the manifold and almost looks like a an odd shaped black square. If you can't find it, then you should check out darkone's service manuals. -Scott

the tps is on the back of the THROTTLE BODY, not manifold. you can see the hammer that your throttle cable attatches to. well that has a rod connected to it that runs all the way through the side of the TB. look right at the other end towards the firewall and there it is. there are 2 sensors on your TB, the TPS which is the upper most one and the IAC, which is the one on the lower end
