im going to be in the process of cutting my short ram intake ... the bottom 1/4 of it is what im cutting off ... so i can attach it to my existing cai and angle it to my air dam..

this would also be an open filter proposition .. now for the most part people run open at the track so im not nervous about that .. i just wanted opinions on this .. and yes i will have pics up soon .. this can also be shared by other 2gnts with the cai at the track also which is a :thumbsup

why dont you just take off your headlight and stick a tube out there??? its what we did with my friends civic.

cause the cold air rides low on my car ..taking the headlight out wouldnt really be in the same area

anyway heres my theory if you get a cai feel the upper part of the pipe its still hot right?? by adding the cai yes you will get colder air from the bottom but it still heats up as it passes through the top, on the other hand if you take off the headlight you actually have flow going into the engine bay to cool off the pipe but still get the same air from the bottom of the car

now correct me if im wrong on this<which i highly doubt i am> but please do

See bra, the pipe is gonna be hot no matter what cause it's in the engine bay. The pipe temperature doesn't really matter - the important thing is the intake air temp. That'll be the hottest if you have a short ram(like me) that puts the filter in the engine bay. Then you step up to colder air with a CAI, cause it's suckin the air from the bottom of the bay. The thing about what he's doin is he's actually creating a ram intake(not to be confused with a short ram like I have). This should get even colder air than a CAI, cause it's ramming it in from the front of the car as you go down the track.

I know what you are talking about, there is another post about using the high beam area for a ram air effect. Not sure if your idea would have the dame effect because of the length it would have to travel.

I'm curious about this now...... Somebody mentioned that the pipe temp does not matter so much as the air temp, but as the air travels through the pipe and hits the bends won't it get warmer and warmer as it travels?

What if you took a piece of flex pipe or some sort of tubing and ran it so one end of it was mounted in the fog light cover or air dam, and the other part blew air onto the pipe to cool it, would that make enough of a difference to help counter act some of the heat transfered from the pipe? (obviosly it wouldn't work to well when you're stopped and idling) but at WOT or even highway cruising I'd think it would help ot the heat problem a little.

or he we go, how about add a heat wrap to the pipe and it's less heat to the piping. as for where the filter goes, if you say it's a track car, i would route it to the left headlight. it's less piping to worry about and the air flow would be the same when wind hitting towards you.

its funny u mention turbo wrap .. i was talking to remy about going half for some !~~~! well once the pipe is cut i will be able to mount it either way .. now i dont know about u guys but taking out those lights is a bitch ... i think its just easier to do my way ..

Thats exactly what I was thinking. You need the headlights to get to the track - what are ya gonna remove it and install your piping when you get there? Then remove your piping and reinstall and readjust the head light before you go home? No thanks.

Routing it to the dam is just easier to deal with and it does the same exact thing - ram air in from the front of the car.

not if you just avoid putting all the bolts back together. once you remove the bolts from the headlight, just install the headlight with fewer bolts, and don't put on the bitch bolts. that's what i did with my car, i put only 4 bolts out of the 8 i think, and it's not a pain to remove. the healdight stays still with all the vibrations, and this was since i 1st put on my turbosystem 2 years ago. it's upto you by i find it better for less air restriction.
