55185, About the machine shop Posted by The Liquid Drop, Jul-14-03 10:12 AM
Well, I just got off the phone with the guys from the machine shop. In my city these guys are supposed to be the best. I was asking their price for boring .20 over. Just kinda curious if the prices were about right. They want $50 to do the bore. Also, I took apart the engine, however, I am going to have them put it back together with the parts that I need. They want $120 for the short block assembled. I thought I could put the head back on and such. Just want to check with the pro's about those prices. Also, is it a better idea to have all the parts there when they want to bore it? Or could I just take it back? TIA

I would say you take them the parts when they machine it so they can make sure everything fits right. Their prices sound fair to me. My machine shop here told me they wouldn't install my parts since I didn't by from them. Trying to cover their ass for not being able to do it right. (as if I might have poor quality Wisecos, Eagles and Clevites...) :rolleyes
Sounds like a good deal to me mang! :thumbsup
