54900, what are the symptoms of bad piston rings? Posted by AznKaos15, Jul-09-03 09:20 AM hi, can someone tell me the sypmtoms of bad piston rings? like what happens during morning starts, "car sits for 2 hours" starts, during a drive, and all the other stuff. i m burning like a quart a week. could that be my valve seals and guides? or is it my rings? thanks in advance. | |

54940, RE: what are the symptoms of bad piston rings? Posted by MetalJim, Jul-09-03 08:26 PM Yep, do a compression and leakdown test. The leakdown test will give you the best indication of how bad the rings are without actually taking the pistons out. | |
