54179, real quick question...need help, tia Posted by scottfreeman80, Jun-29-03 05:50 PM
CEL on, busted out the obdII and it was the throttle position sensor. Started car up yesterday and no CEL at all, car ran fine. Started the car up again today and CEL came back on. Is their a way the sensor could be ok, but shorting out? connection and mounting were fine, is it possible the CEL could be wrong? any input or comments are appreciated -Scott

Just a guess here, but if the outer insulation became loose and allowed the inner wires to rub against each other, maybe they wore through? That is, the outer look fine, but inside there is a short?
Just my .02 and a bump

thanks for the bump...the wires appear to have continuity and insulation seems to be fine, not an electrician but to me it all looks good and today my cel went off again. no cel now, but i'm dreading that it will come back on the day i go to sell my car...know what i mean? anyways... Is there anything else i could check to make sure the sensor is working ok?
