i'm changing the rod bearings and oil pan gasket, well i WANT to... i have the crossmember off, but the downpipe won't come off!!!, won't even detach at the cat. wtf am i supposed to do? if i just screw the pan back in it will leak like no tomorrow and i don't want that.


is there some way of getting the pan off without taking off the downpipe? to those *few* who have said they have, what did you remove? those two black things on the sides of the pan? (attached to clutch housing?) please help, and as soon as possible!!!

now it's like 12:30, i have the two nuts off, but the pipe won't budge!! any advice?

Ummm did you unbolt all bolts...? there are 2-3 large ones at the manifold junction, 2 bracket bolt, then two at the Cat.

Give it a good wack with a rubber mallet to loosen the rust.

yeah i got all the bolts. by the looks/feel of it there are only two at the junction up by the manifold. and i'm sure you can tell, i gave up and went to bed. i'm also gonna run to the store and get an 18mm socket (which no kit seems to come with) for those stupid brackets by the transmission. (i was lucky enough to get one off with a 19mm without stripping it, and for some odd reason the other was a 16 or 15)
