53727, Who has Accel DFI? Posted by KidEvo, Jun-23-03 02:04 PM
Just wondering if anyone uses Accel DFI. Do you use it as a piggyback or a standalone? I have the dfi 6; I was wondering what distributor can I use along with the Crane Ignition box. Mazda MX-6? thanks

There is no distributor you could use out of the box. Without fabign a distributor for it, you can't use a Gen 6 as a standalone on a 2gnt. There is no one on this board running a gen6 as a standalone on a 2gnt - even HRC.

SO HRC's stage IV and V's with the DFI 7 are piggybacks? :-(
I wanted a setup like my friends 1g talon DFI 6, MSD Ignition , MX-6 Distributor.
Gary Howell said he hasnt seen anyone do it. But he did say it was possible.

The Gen 7 has been redone a lot above the Gen 6. I'm not even sure HRC is done testing the Gen 7 yet (I could be wrong about testing).
If you are looking stand alone I say go with the Electromotive TEC-3, lots of features and full fuel, timing control, all of it.

Did i say gen 7? No.. just the Gen6. I believe the Gen7 supports distributorless ignition systems, while the Gen6 does not.

Damn HRC doesnt return my messages. :-( Dino, can you clarify what you mean? thanks I think what I meant was to custom distributor (like the mazd mx-6), machined to fit the engine . Where can I read up on this Electromotive TEC-3?

Gen 6 piggy back (only used for the fuel on our cars)
Gen 7 stand alone, it can control fuel and spark and is a WICKED system.
There is a guy over one the neons.org board that fabed up a distributor for his gen 6 box. I think he’s only running 11's though

HRC should get back to you, they are a little busy and I think down a tech guy or two. The Gen 6 is not designed to work with distributorless ignitions, the Gen 7 is. You would have to cutom make a lot of it, like stated.
Electromotive Total Engine Control 3 (TEC-3) http://www.electromotive-inc.com and it can be wired in using our coil pack, you don't have to use theirs.
