5351, Error Code 12
Posted by Black97GS, Jul-18-01 06:02 AM
Direct battery input to PCM was disconnected within the last 50 key-on cycles

What the hell does that mean? I didn't disconnect anything. Can I just do the normal reset method to dump this code?

the "normal reset method" is what causes this code ;-)

Ignore it. It'll go away in a two or three days. Mine always does.

Not a major problem code UNLESS you battery is about 3-4 years old is is going bad. All it does is tell you that your battery has been disconnected OR LOW VOLTAGE. If older battery, get it checked. Alot of misconception about this code 12. SOME think it is automaticly there, like the 55 END OF CODE. It is NOT automatic and it is NOT to be ignored either. IF you have not done any elec work lately on your vehicle and have NOT disconnected the battery or any other fuse/relay, keep attention to the battery and possibly the alternator. USUALLY the battery is getting weak and a crank on the starter will get it down to the 12.2v or so and will kick the code.
GOOD LUCK

I get 13.4 volts at my amps, so I don't think it's a dying battery. The real reason I'm getting the check engine light is code 31. I wasn't patient enough to sit and wait when I checked the error codes.

31 EVAP solenoid circuit Harness and connector / EVAP solenoid

WTF? Air conditioning evaporator? If that's the case, my AC is working okay. It has to, I live in Texas.

EVAP is your emissions, NOT your AC.

Well, there's an Evaporator in the Air Conditioning System, although I did find out the EVAP was an emissions canister with a solenoid on it after checking my manual. I had to disconnect my battery over the weekend to fix my stupid horn buttons, and the check engine light is gone. If it comes back, I will screw with it.
