I've posted something to this effect before with all the 2.4L swap info going around, but noone seems interested in a 2.7L. Why not? If the 2.4 is ~22% more displacement, a 2.7L would be almost 2X the displacement (~42% more). I know alot of issues arrise with motor swaps. This 2.7L is made for the 1ST Gen Neon (which I am about to do some research on and find similarities/differences...). I'm just thinking if the 2.4 has been done successfully, why is there no uproar over this motor? Lets shed some light on this please.

2.7L's and Stage 1 turbo...WERD

i am 18 and when i was 16 i was turning wrenches on my dsm...

the 2.7 is a stroked 2.4.....

plain and simple..

ive been turning wrenches on cars since i was old enough to say wrench...

might i add not many people have used this 2.7 dunno if its reliable yet...

howell has had some problems with board memebers and motors that ive read about..

ive got no first hand expirence with thier blocks but i think matt had a lemon...

Howell ran this 2.7L in their Car&Driver Super Street Car Shootout vehicle. If i rememebr right, it was 11:1 compression, running on 91 octane. They smoked the clutch on their first run, but the car was very strong.

Spoke to Gary at Howell. He says its not worth it if youre going turbo. Maybe all motor. Doesnt rev high, and isnt as durable?

The problem is, that if it's a fully built motor and we can't buy the bottom end by itself, then we are going to get a Neon head with the deal that we can't use, and have to worry about selling. Because in all these swaps we have to use our head.

I'm very interested in the 2.7L, that would be sweet, the torque for an all motor car should be a beautiful thing. I'm holding off the bowign down to the engine until we see some results. Yeah, I heard it was a beast before it smoked the clutch, but I want to see some number... 11.5:1 sounds better to me. }(

they are currently holding back production due to problems with the motor hrm maybe excessive wear on the rod bearings or wrist pins because of the out rageaous rod angle hrmm probably...

im not saying the 2.7litre is a bad idea if it was be id probably build a 2.6litre....

safer that way, just to bore the motor and not stroke it more...
