Check out this picture and then maybe you can answer a couple questions for paul and I...

1) YAY! We finally got the head off (fucking brackets...) so how's it look? He was losing oil from the usual spot - driver side rear, but can you see where/if the HG blew? I remember somebody posted and you could see the spots where it burned through. Comments?

2) Close up of #3 & #4 (driver side) Most of the seepage seemed to be between the two bolt wells on the back side. In any case, how do those pistons look? Any reason why they're cleaner on the intake side? Could the injectors be realigned for a more dead-center combustion? Also,it seemed like the outer piston faces were more carboned-up than the inner two. Is this normal? Comments?

3) Bottom of the head. Cylinders go 1-2-3-4 (l->r). Exhaust at top. Why are #2 & #3 exh valves red?? Any insight into whether or not his HG was shot or did we just make a trial run for MY rebuild next week? :P

I'd say we had fun working on this. Not as much fun as you would an E/A-6 Prowler, right Paul? (hehe) But it was tough and even though it's on it's way back together now, any thoughts, comments, insight into the condition of this engine from these pictures? TIA! :thumbsup

What kind of boost is paul running?

I'm assuming his internals are all stock. Star Stage II from what I saw.

Its kinda hard to tell, but it looks like that gasket was leaking coolant to almost all of the cylinders? The intake side of the pistons are usually cleaner, becaue the rushing in of fuel on the intake side helps keep them clean. The reddish colored valves, I believe, is from buring coolant. Someone else may want to shed more light on that though. Yep, that HG is toast..

Hey XtremeRS, how you tell the HG is toasted?

BTW, I try my best again, I just drove my whole engine block to the machine shop and let them deal with it..
My final result, still can't take off the bedplate...I hope everything goes well over there!

It's been 3 years and no boom yet!!!...Knock on wood

The headgasket change is finally done and the car ran like it was brand new...my hesitation is gone now and the car runs so much smoother....thanks to DR1665 (Brian) & URUN4CVR (John) for their help...Chris don't diss next time....hehehe, j/k....see ya guys at the track on thursday night!!!

i ran 12psi stock bottom end for sometime. well i did hehe..
