53002, Muffler that doesnt sound gay???
Posted by Jman70701, Jun-11-03 07:09 AM
I have been having a lot pf problems finding a used GS-T muffler around here. So i am pretty much left with buying an aftermarket muffler. Now my dad is convinced that mieneke is great and has been insisting on going there and talkin to them, so we are going today. I wont be purchasing anything today. But what i want to know is, what is a good muffler thats not to much louder the stock, but had a nice deep tone. I am not trying to get one of the gay mufflers that rattles and sounds like shit. Any suggestions? Thanx

back in the day, i had a flowmaster 40 series muffler. it sounded ok, but it was SO loud. highway driving gave me headaches. it was just a muffler too, not an actual cat-back. it rusted out so i went for something else cheap. big mistake.

currently, i have a flowmaster 60 seires delta flow axle back. it's highly restrictive (you won't notice unless you're turbocharged) but on the other hand it's substantally quieter than the old 40 series.

right now, i'm looking to upgrade to a real 3" cat-back system. 2" with a stock cat and a crappy flowmaster muffler is AWFUL. i have NO top end power at all. i've been looking for a RS-R cat-back but they're impossible to find. the reason i want one is because i hear they are very quiet, which is what i'm looking for. something tells me that i'll just end up getting a greddy evolution.

EDIT: the flowmaster axle-back that i currently have is in the process of rusting out just like the old 40 seires. something tells me that out of all of the other turbocharged 2gnt's on the board, i have the worst exhaust setup.

I have a 2.5 cat back with a magnaflow. Before I want turbo WOT sounded like a freakin honda/fartcan combo but when I went turbo it sounds soooooo nice at WOT.

tanabe is great, but if you want something that is not lound dont get the racing medallion!!! it is sooo loud, i set off atleast 2-3 car alarms every day in the parking deck i park in. cruising at 80 on the highway everything in my car vibrates. ofcourse, it does have a silencer to put in, but who wants that???
