Could I polish this baby up real good, and get her all shiny? It would look a lot better than the dark, rough grey. Coul I do it without screwing anything up? Also, could I do anything to my valve cover while it's off?

as for the intake mani. you can do it with a dremel. im doing it to one of my spares, that and porting it out to 60mm. i started off with a real rough grit and at the top speed, whatever 10 equals...made pretty quick work of it. seems like you have to take alot off to get it that really smooth polished look tho. you need a variety of size drum things, big ones and tiny ones, and some extra paper for those spots the dremel is just to big for. count on it taking a day maybe a day and a half depending on how long you work on it.
for the valve cover i would get it powdercoated, havent done that to mine yet but maybe this summer when i do the hg and turbo install. just a thought. maybe a hi heat paint would work too...

I polished my intake last summer with a Sears electric die grinder. I started with Standard Abrasives Deluxe Porting Kit to get rid of the texture. When everything was smooth I polished everything with a felt buff. It's a shame ,only one third if it is visible in the car !!!!!!!

damn....that is fine looking...damn near as hot as that Vic secret model...hehe.....i was gonna polish my valve cover..but the black coating is just waaaaaay to hard to get off...that and i couldn't get the "DOHC 2.0L 16 VALVE" smooth and shiny like that....ANY TIPS, on what to buff it with...ive tried a lot of things from 3000grit sandpaper to ultra fine steel wool and even mothers metal polish....help???

Just spend weeks on it and it will look damn sweet.
