52846, The ever-recurring "How much HP from NA" post...
Posted by DR1665, Jun-08-03 07:47 PM
I was just spending some quality time in the Things We've Seen Before section and I found a thread about 200hp NA. It looked like Skrilla had quite a setup going on. His post was dated about 2 years ago and I got to thinking, I haven't seen him around lately. Does anyone know how he's holding up? How's the 2GNT running? Does he still have it?

Anyway, a lot's changed in the past 2 years, and seeing as I'm getting ready to tear into my 420 like a fat kid into his snack cakes, I was curious what else I should be doing to my bottom end that might help me to achieve NA nirvana in the long run.

I've got the 10.5:1s the Eagle rods, and the AFX UDP, but I'm looking for a general game plan for this long term project. I was thinking cams, gears, some headwork and maybe one of those spiffy new Howell ECUs.

I know I'm just laying the foundation now and I'm not expecting much more than a pinch of powah, but with some serious breathing (and AFC) tuning, would that ECU give me the extra bit of HOO-wah! That I'm looking for? I am really excited about getting this started right. It feels almost like the week before Christmas!!!

So, any thoughts/ideas? Should I knife edge the crank? What sort of things do I want to get done while I'm in here this deep? TIA!

:thumbsup

If you can swing it, definately get yourself a set of cams.

Cams are my stage 2. Right now I'm looking at bottom end stuff. Anybody got some bottom end ideas? TIA!

the crank comes knife edged from the factory...no need to knife edge it.

I used to draw all kinds of stuff. Then I spent 2 years as a graphic desing major. Once I HAD to draw, it was no longer fun. Nowadays, all I ever do is draw different concept cars. They generally have a black roof and resemble a DSM somewhat. I thought a 4GNt would be cool and that drawring turned out better than most, so....

Thanks for the compliments! :thumbsup
