Can you change the valve springs, lifters, and rockers without taving the head off. I had the cams, cam gears, pistons, and rods replaced. I also did a Valve job, port and polish, sleeve the cylinders, stage 2 turbo kit, starion i/c, 440 injectors, Apexi Super AFC, and a 2 stage NOS Setupand i ran out of money to do the valvetrain. I dont want to have to open the whole engine up again. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Sorry... you'll have to take the head off to get all that done. The valves will only come out the bottom.

I think he was talking about valve springs, not valves.
you could do all that without taking the head off, it won't be easy, but it's been done.

I think someone did it by stuffing some peace of cloth or something fron the exh runners and turned the crank shaft so the pistons will be pushing the valves (with the help of the peace of cloth) and then making some sortta valve springs compresor tool to take the old springs out and compress the new ones inplace.

but you still have to take the timing belt and the cams off the car tho. I was about to do that myself, but thought the head could use some more milling that's why I took the head off.

5256, Hey XT_DSM. . . how the valve train coming for you?

Did you get the cams, springs, and retainers installed? Did you come up with a way to defeat the rev limit? You are installing the same parts I plan on doing soon so I am trying to see how it is all going so I kinda know what to expect. Thanks!

Yeah I guess I should read a little better, even then it will be hard. Because like you said there has to be a way to hold the valves up. Then you could rent a valve spring compressor to take them off, and reinstall.

Adel, what valvetrain are you running? crane springs & retainers, SS valves, PT rockers??? or am I wrong?
