My question is this...did you hear anything when it occured? All that happened when my car shut down is the revs dropped off and it never fired up again.

I didn't hear anything -- no pops, car didn't buck -- nothing -- i had the clutch down so i was coasting at the time -- I'll find out more tomorrow -- but I would really like to know if anyone has any real solid information -- thanks.

Also -- for the insurance adjuster should i have the stock airbox thrown back on there?? Does it matter??

I didn't hear anything in my cavalier when I did it. It just shuddered pretty bad when I tried to start it. BTW I actually did end up getting it to start again and the mechanic said that's what did all the damage. If I were you I would put the stock airbox on there just in case unless you have already mentioned it to anyone important. Good luck man, hope everything works out. :thumbsup

Ive heard you can do this:

Take out one spark plug and spark plug wire.

Turn the car over.

Watch for a fountain of water.

Do that for all 4 and see if water shoots out. Dunno where i heard that but it seems like it'd work. But then again you said you cant get it to turn over...or can you just not get it to do anything?

You could also find a vacuum hose SMALL enough to stick in your spark plug wells (good luck finding one) and suck out the water.

I hydrolocked my motor about 4 years ago. Not fun. I did not hear anything either, it just stopped and I could not get it to start again. Took it to the dealer and they removed the spark plugs, wires, and cranked it over until it shot all the water out. Added more oil and it was all better. I dove it back home 11 hours back to Va. and then turboed it shortly after and never had a problem.

Hopefully you will be as lucky.

Do an oil change asap!

Yeah don't do it one at a time yank all 4 spark plugs disconnect power to the coil pack and crank it over see if water comes out. Then do a compression test and see what kind of damage there is.
