Hi guys. I think my FMIC is blocking air flow to my radiator too much. I am seeing on our hot days (about 95 now) that my engine temp goes WAY up... almost to the red line when I am cruising along at like 80, or if I am cruising 65 with the A/C on, I will overheat almost.
Any suggestions, do you think this is the prob, or do you think there is something else??? I have enough coolant in there, and I think everything is working okay.

I'd try redline water wetter. Alot of people have had some good luck with it. Otherwise, put the heat on and drive nekid!!!

yep thats the cons of a big FMIC
either #1 make a deflector to send more air directly on your radiator, #2 hook both fans up to run together #3 fluidyne radiator/spal fans

and def go with the water wetter it has proven to reduce heat by quite a bit

Try the water wetter, but don't assume that everything is o-k with your cooling system. check it out.
you don't want to be going into the super hot temps anymore. I guarantee that you will regret it.

also, try removing the seal at the top of your hood, up around where it meets the windshield (if you haven't already) that might increase the airflow a little.

Yeah when I noticed it the other day the outside temp was about 105, so I pulled out of the #1 lane and turned the A/C off, and brought my speed to about 75, and then it went to normal operating temp...
It is just frustrating that something isn't running right... I already checked my cooling system.. I know it is working cause if the outside temp is under 90 I can run as hard as I want with A/C and no temp issues.

he, that's exactly what I was gonna say. watter wetter. the theory behind this stuff is pretty convincing, as well as everybody seems to have good luck with it.

I have the same problem... 2nd day of 110+ temps and the car has been overheating. I dont even run the AC, I am going to flush the radiator this weekend, add water wetter, and do the the 2 fan mod. I hope this works cause it is only going to get hotter here

What is this water wetter that everyone is talking about? can I go to a normal parts house and pick it up?

I don't operate in temps that high, but I would bet dollars to doughnuts that it is not just the FMIC blocking your RAD. There is something wrong there. Dino runs 18psi on the street in his car with a stock RAD and his does not overheat. I know it gets pretty hot in houston too. There is something else going on, check the water pump and the whole 9 yards. I had that problem for a while with no signs of what it was, it turned out to be my WP which I had just put on the car 1000 miles before the problems showed up. I'm not trying to make you worry, try the watter wetter and all that, but really check everything else too. You can also try a GSt radiator cap as well. And watter wetter is avail through some chain stores like pep boys, but any performance place should have it.

yea, if you hack up the bumper a little more, it should allow a more free flow of air... i had to cut up quite a bit off mine. i do have an aftermarket front fascia though, i dont know if that makes a difference.

Go to wally world and grab a mech gauge. Maybe your temp sender has gone coo coo for choco choco puffs. While your at it, flush the rad, grab a thermostat and dealer gasket. See if the parts store will rent you a pressure tester and test your system for leaks and test the cap. We're talking 25 bux worth of crap and 2 hours with some beers. It's all cheaper and easier than a blown HG.

Well i flushed my radiator tonight. Lots of crap came out during the flush. Put distilled water, water wetter and fresh coolant back in. We'll see how it runs tomorrow.

ALUMINUM RADIATOR!!! Well thats what Im trying.

Okay... I already checked my cooling system, and everything checks out good, I have a preasure tester, and it was good too, I went to a cooler thermostat, but that is not the problem, the water is still circulating, just when it is super hot outside, my water is getting really hot, while circulating well... I think I am going to richen up my coolent mixture, see if that helps a little.
