51560, 3 angle valve job the details....got answeres? Posted by bmxunderground, May-21-03 03:25 PM
Ok, so I have this OEM 420a head sitting in front of me. I purchased and installed parts before this head though. CAI, Header, HIflow cat, and full cat back exhaust....Tanabe, Greddy, HKS, ...not important. Anyway to complete the full breathing cycle there are two components left...ignition mods and head...(oh intake and TB...done already)
So there are a few things to do:
Port match and polish 3 or 5 angle race grind for valves new cams cam gears new lifters new springs new retainers new roller rockers new valves
and thats about it...without changing compression from bottom adding or shaving.
Well, I am going mild with my setup so the 3 angle valve job is what I want to start with.... now here is what I know...the stock valves are at 44 or 45 degree seating with 1 degree of interference...but what I don't know is.....WHAT ANGLES DO I WANT FOR THE 3 ANGLE VALVE JOB!!!!
experienced help needed.....and as you can see from the picture below I have all the needed equipment for the job just need your input now...
This is a picture of my valve equipment, I have stones and cutters and the works! You can see my valve in the directional grinder now...

I thought the trick with this was to halve the angles. I have no idea if there are any particular trick angles with our head and I think you'de be hard pressed to drag them out of a pro shop if there were. I would go with 22 & 68 - halve the angles.
