Well I know I will have some hunting to do to find where it's at, I just wanted a few ideas for places to start my hunt. It's somewhere on the rear passenger side of the block. The oil is leaking onto the back side of the oil filter and some on the back of the block. The really strange part is that there is oil on the bottom of the intake manifold too. It has dripped down onto the axles as well. When I was looking under it I saw a droplet of the oil. I know it's not the cam seals or the front main, because I just had to do the timing belt. The only thing I can think of to start with is the valve cover, so that will be my first stop. Any other suggestions for places to look guy's????

Don't discount the cam seals. The intake cam seals seems to like to leak for some reason. I replaced mine with the install of the cams first time around and it was leaking when I did my head gasket.

Check the valve cover gasket, headgasket, but it shouldn't since you just did it. Starting up as high as the intak manifold that discounts one of the sending units on the back of teh block. I would look into valve cover and cam seal.

I have the same oil leak. It's all over the bottom/rear of the block, oil filter, axle, and suspension parts on the passenger side. I took a real close look at the cams and t-belt, but they are dry. I replaced my oil cap and the o-ring on my oil drain plug too, but it's still leaking.

This weekend I'm gonna make sure the fittings for my oil pressure sender are tight, just in case it's loose and maybe the pressure is making it spray in that direction. I don't even know what else it could be. It's not leaking from the oil pan or valve cover, and I have no signs of a leaking head gasket. Oil pump itself maybe????

Well I don't think it could be the oil pump unless the axle is throwing it way up on the engine. My best bet now is VC but I looked at the cam seals when doing the t-belt and there were no signs of leaking. I don't have the top half of my cover anymore so I can see them pretty well. Anything else I should check out?

I swear we are driving old school Jaguars....cause if our cars just like theres isnt leaking oil something is wrong hahaha....I have the same damn leak...ive changed practically everything

I had one... Ended up being a tiny hole in my oil pan from too many bumps, and having lowered it. But that would be easy to see.

Why do you say that? There is no oil present on the under side of the HG. It looks to me like there is a leak up top that is dripping on the mani and other brackets and what not, and then falling onto the block. If it was the HG and there was oil on the underside of the manifold, then there would be some on the HG itself.

Let's see if some of the veterans here have any suggestions. I've heard of a few people that have this same oil leak, but I've never seen a post saying "I fixed it" except for ClipseRST finding the hole in his oil pan, which unfortunately is not the case for us.

Oil leaks on the back of these motors suck. Why? because most of the oil somehow makes its way onto the axle, and then gets slung all over the place, making it almost impossible to track down. I had one for a bit there, but isolated it to the driver side back of the block. Wasnt coming up higher, so finally found the oil leak out the oil pressure sender T fitting, and my several oil pressure gauge adapter fittings. Re did those with teflon paste, still leaked. After resealing it 2 times, re did it again, using black RTV on the threads instead of teflon, and now i'm oil drip free! If you are certain its coming from the passenger side, then there really are only a few things to leak:

VC gasket
cam oil seals
oil gally freeze plug behind T-belt on the end of the block
oil pump
oil pan gasket(the gasket can leak in the front, and make its way to
the back of the pan, since the motor is tilted backwards)
oil filter/adapter-to-block fitting.

I also suppose its possible for the bedplate-to -block seal to leak, but thats not very likely..Oil leaks suck :(

maybe its the INFAMOUS rear drivers side corner headbolt is too long and needs to be shaved down mod.....

arp headstuds and a new headgasket fixed my leak....

I had the same exact thing as you (dont know if you remember a poll a while ago about leaking cam seals).

I had my intake cam seal leaking. Check under your alternator bracket...if yiou have oil dripping from there....either it is your HG or intake cam seal. I would discount all the other cheaper and easier to replace things versus the head gasket at first.

I just replaced my cam seals, now I have found that th epressure side of the oil pump where it seals against the block/bedplat is also leaking.

What I also did was to jack the car up and degrease the whole back of the block. Then let it dry up, drive it around, and jack it up again. That should help you pin-point where the leak is.

If you dont have oil on the driver side of the back of the block , then you can discard your oil pressure T fitting for the turbo, as well as the infamous head gasket leak due to the head bolt threads.

Process of elimination is the way to go with these oil leaks. MOst of the time they are relatively easy to fix and shouldnt cost much.

this is what someone on the board has, jamesman found it out. from what i remember the bolts within that area are not tight, and/or there is a o-ring or something missing? thats all i can remember from the talk. and this was a small oil leak. i really hope this does not happen to me hehe

Okay boys I cannot believe the imprtgrl is gonna show ya up!;-) Kirby- there is a product at the local autoparts store called engine oil dye. Take a can o degreaser to the back of the engine, put in the dye, run car, use blacklight....end of story! It will flouresce and tell you EXACTLY where that leak is. May take a few trys if engine is really dirty but it worked for me and I have the HG leak..ugh!
