what PSI is our radiator cap? i've been trying to figure out my overheating and coolant loss problems for a little while now (see: previous posts) and my friend was looking at it and he's like "if your resevoir is always full, then your radiator cap isn't working correctly" and we observed steam and even drops of water coming from the radiator cap. this could possibly be the answer to my problems, so i need to know what psi our radiator caps are supposed to be so i can head out to the autoparts store and grab one. thanks :)

I dunno if this helps but I had the same problem last month, I bought a 16 psi recently and it seems to better than the other one I had which was a 13 psi that only lasted like 9 months and before it started leaking and letting out steam.

Just get the GST cap. It will acctually help your systems performance. If you run a search it will find the PSI for you, but why bother they know at the store.

I believe ours stock is 9 psi, the GST ones are 13-14 psi. Ya, the GST ones fit, that's what I use.

i think its because we have diffent engines, ours was just designed to have a higher pressure cooling system.

I'm not going to get into thermal dynamics,....because I don't know anything about it...lol But I know that someone explained to me once on this board that the GST cap is better because it raises the boiling point of the coolant so it won't heat up as much. Just trust me you want the GST cap.

How much does a new GS-T radiator cap go for at a Auto Parts store? I need a new one and ran into this thread, :)

At Kragen?, they sell the same cap for both GST and RS/GS. They're both 13psi, and about $10 as I recall.

I'm using a Greddy 18.5psi cap because I was having boilover and leakage problems like described above. It seems to have helped, I also polished the lip the cap sits on.
