51342, Cam Positions at TDC Question

When the motor is at TDC what direction are the alignment pins on the cams pointing? I remember that they are pointing in opposite directions one up and one down but I don't remember whether it's the intake cam pointing up or the exhaust cam.

I thought if everything is at TDC, the cam marks should be facing each other

Not the marks on the Cam Sprockets ... the alignment pins on the cams themselves. I think I got the answer (thanks armond) but post regardless.

Aren't you Armond :+ j/k

Anyway, Thura, I'm pretty sure the intake is going to be on top and the exhaust is going to be on the bottom. But it may not be exactly 12 and 6 oclock, more like 11 and 7 oclock. I'm guessing by a picture of my cams after I installed them so it may not be exact...but that should be close enough for you to get the marks lined up.

Yes you're right, I just did it. Exhaust pin up, intake pin down.

Just look at your stock sprockets (if you still have them), they only have the timing mark on one side so they only align at TDC one way.
