5117, What should I pay for a used GS-T muffler Posted by EsiTalon, Jul-13-01 03:00 AM
I found a couple GS-T mufflers with about 25,000 miles on them...
What's a good price for it? Thanks!

you bidding on that one on ebay? if so only go to about 50...after that plus shipping it isnt worth it. 75 for the whole catback is a an ok deal but remember if bidding you have to pay shipping. i would say about 50. also try emailing that dude and say hey i will buy it now for 50 and see if he retracts the item?

Just had to share... I got a GS-T muffler, it's on a UPS truck somewhere in cali on it's way to my Talon in WI... Originally the guy wanted $75 plus I pay shipping... I told him I'd pay $70 shipped... he bit... good thing too cause he said it cost him $40 to ship it!!!!
I got a deal :)
Any tips for installing the muffler besides soaked the bolts in WD-40 for a day before I try to remove them?

$40 to ship!!?!??! Wow, i guess he's sending you the whole cat-back. I got mine off a 99 shipped from florida to PA for $55 to my door. ($50 for the muffler and the guy split shipping with me, $5 each, cool guy) My tip is if you have a 95 or 96 where the bolts are so rusted and corroded you turn a wrench on it and you have smooth bolts, don't spend 2 days cutting them with a hacksaw, take it somewhere and have them blowtorched off.

Hi fellow DSMers, this is my first post here since buying my car 1 month ago. I found a guy with a stock GSX muffler for sale. Will this muffler bolt right on like the GS-T? Thanks in advance.

I think that the AWD mufflers (like the GSX) are different that the FWD mufflers...
Am I right everyone?

yes i belive your right. there is a different setup. as for taking the stock muffler off a 95 96, you are also right. i soaked the shit in wd40 for 2 days, then pulled up onto my ramps and tried to take the bolts off....guese what, no luck. so i soaked a rag in wd40. wrapped it around the flang, then sprayed it again. the next day, once again no luck. i took it down to a muffler shop and had them weld it off. they charged me 40 bucks to take the old one off and put the new one on. i payed 50 for the gs-t exhaust from a junk yard. hope this helps
