When installing the waterpump, do yo have to put some type of sealant with the o-ring or just the o-ring and waterpump? TIA

I installed mine just the o-ring and the pump, just make sure that you torque it to specs though. Better do the timing belt, and the bearings while you're at it if you haven't done 60k preventive maintenance.

i used a little bit of rtv to hold the gasket in place.

The FSM only requires the O-ring to seal the pump to the block. However, I mimicked the install of my 4g63 water pump and used RTV on the outside of the O-ring perimeter.

No sealant here, none required. Be sure to use the proper torque specs too. When putting to the block, be SURE the o ring did not come out of place.

What bearings are you refering to? How complicated is it replacing them? Thanks

Thanks everyone for your replies! I haven't done the 60k maintenance yet because i'm waiting for UDP. Also, I too would like to know what bearings need to be changed?

the idler and tensioner bearings most definetly need to be replaced. when i bought my car the engine was rebuilt, but the guy cut a few corners and reused the tensioner and idler. 3 years later, my engine starts running funny, and i notice that the timing belt is flapping around in the cover. when i pulled the cover off, ball bearings dropped out. the bearings on both of the idler pulley and tensioner pulley had come apart completely. i might reccomend changing your water pump too, i went throgh all that bullshit last fall and now ive got take everything off again because the bearing in my waterpump has gone bad.
