50825, Any option other than Turbo?? Posted by jasonhko, May-09-03 08:44 AM
pretty much thats the question. Im not a racer, track or street anymore. I used to street my 91 MR2 turbo, but those days are gone. Im not really looking to get 300+hp either, just want alittle something more than what I already got, (99GS 140hp) just for everyday driving. Car just feels so heavy to me compared to the MR2. Im not really looking to want to spend a fortune either. Like I said, just want to look for a little more. I was thinking about just getting a stage 1 or maybe even stage 2, but thats gonna get me going crazy again with all the other upgrading involved. Any other options?

you could always try going all motor, try installing a UDP, Cold Air Intake, header, catback exhaust, bigger injectors, crower stage 2 cams...that would get you some extra power.
Personally, go stage 1 or 2 and have some real fun!

Larger TB, port and polish intake and exhaust manifolds, hotter plugs, better wires, 10.5 compression pistons (2.2l block with 10.5 if you're feeling froggy), crower valve springs with titanium retainers, pt cruiser lifter lashers and rockers

UDP = under-drive pulley
ok.. yeah, I thought about going all motor instead of turbo, but Im thinking that would cost me just about as much if not more with all the shop time needed to port and polish everything. Im not really looking to swap out blocks as well. I was hoping that there was something that was economical. If Im gonna be shelling out 3-4k, then im just gonna go turbo and end up going crazy with all the safc, sfmu, bigger injectors, fuel pump, blah blah blah. I really kinda wanna stay away from all that. How much of a gain am I gonna get with a bigger TB and headers? I just want some decent power to tug my GS's big fat ass around town.
