50700, Exhuast question for GS need advice Posted by momoney816, May-07-03 05:58 PM
I need to get an exhuast, I wont get Greddy etc because I wont pass inspection due to sound. I failed once because it needs to be a "oem muffler".I saw a pacesetter Monza for $200 on the internet which is a full catback. Does anyone know how this exhuast works is there hp gains ?or any suggestions?

I don't know much about Monza....but if you're looking for something with decent gains but is quiet(to a certain extent) and has a low purr....the Tanabe Racing Medallion is sweet. It comes with a removable silencer if you wanna go out and be obnoxious. I know I tell everybody about this exhaust....it's only because I love it and will always keep a Tanabe on my car! It is more expensive than the Monza, but it's totally worth it! Hope that helps ya out!
http://www.rd-tanabe.com/english/contmenu.html I copied the url from the exhaust page, but the link may just take you to the contents page. In which case, just click on exhaust and all of the exhaust systems will come up.
A pic of mine with the silencer out:

I paid about $220 for a custom 2.5" catback with a Dynomax muffler. Sounds great and didnt cost that much.

Also does this come with a catalyic convertor? I presume I will be able to pass insection and emissions with no problems with the Racing Madallion. NJ Inspection made me take my old exhuast off.

I'd just take it somewhere else to get inspected. btw i have an apexi dunk and i love it. it was really loud at first but it has toned down alot. When i want to go on stealth mode i put the silencer in and it is as quiet as stock with an intake.
nevermind tho i forgot they were discontinued.

Ok, I found a couple of places that carry Tanabe....Nopi.com(where I got mine) $601, Final Stage Auto $552, and Overboost.com $517. I would do a search on yahoo for Tanabe Racing Medallion....you might find some other places that carry it.
Nopi and Final Stage have the Super Racing Medallion(looks like the same thing as the Racing Medallion to me) and Overboost has the original Racing Medallion.
