i don't have my digi-cam right now so i had to make a ghetto fabulous pic, but i have a hairline crack in my block. am i gonna need to replace it or will it be okay.

Duct tape and JB Weld that back together LOL

Get it to a machine shop and see what they suggest. I would think that would make that cylinder more likely to go out of round and warp on you, causing the rings to not seal properly over time.

is it just in that upper area or does it go all the way down from what u can see?

if its just in the top area meaning not down much further then an inch you'll probably be fine for stock rebuild for a good amount of time, but dont plan to turbo that motor...

u should be fine to drive it more a few thousand miles be fore it continues down the motor to far...

not life threatening but somone i wouldn't put alot of power through it either

Def have a machine shop look at it. IMO, i would not leave it like that. I can see the greatest risk of a coolant leak from the HG, as that crack may not seal with the HG. Also, that cylinder wall will be weakened, so def no boost for that block..a machine shop may be able to fix that, but not sure about that..

i'm no auto expert, but from the looks of it, a crack in the block like that can't be good. if it was mine i'd start looking for a new block... you don't know how deep that runs.

Some tractors are driving around with cracked blocks that have been repaired by JB Weld. Look at the package and see for yourself! :D If you want to keep using that block, get it magnafluxed, and whatnot, and see if it can be permanantly repaired. If not, JBWeld it for now, and make the top nice and flat with a razor blade while you are preparing for another block.

I have a block for sale with only 10K miles on it. It was brand new from the dealer. I took it apart for a rebuild but never finished the job. Now I just have the block sitting here taking up space. Name a fair price. I'm near Washington DC in case you need to know where it would be shipped from.
