50603, Intense rain = CEL?
Posted by jeffgsu, May-06-03 01:21 PM
I was driving in really hard rain on the way home from work. I don't know if that's the cause but it seems like it didn't help.

I got a check engine light at a stop light while i was idling.

cel 25 Idle air control motor circuit Harness and connector / Idle air control motor

Target idle not reached (k200 r/min) Harness and connector / Idle air control motor / Vaccuum leak

Any ideas on what caused this? I have a 95 RS with the wonderful hesitation problem. My only mod is a short ram intake.

Yes. But I cant tell you why. Was mentioned in a previous post that during a hard rain your CEL will trip. I dont know what it is cause ive never had one come on during a hard rain, but it can happen, obviously:). Check the thread named, umm. Something about "two years and finally a CEL".

Yup, I got a CEL with very hard rain. Here's my post in the general section.

Just cleared the CEL with a friend's datalogger. I got CEL 31, EVAP sensor thingie. With my friend's datalogger, I got a code P0442, like a minor leak in the evap hoses. Light never came back since. My friend also had the same problem when he was playing with puddles. So I'm guessing the rain might trigger your sensors to malfunction. Just a thought.
