I am one of those who have been having problems with the EGR system for awhile now. I found a easy fix that actually made me feel stupid. I would always get a CEL for EGR solenoid circuit failure, and my car would always drive like crap when the cel came on. Very noticible difference with the EGR problem, I hated it. I did not want to block it off cause the EGR reduced cylinder head temps and effects gas mileage greatly. I know cause I have the system on and off the car to see the effects.
I noticed that the connector to the EGR solenoid does not really connect good. It snaps in place but I can wiggle it around very easily. So, just for kicks I decided to clean the connector, wrapped the weather seal on the harness side connector with elec. tape to make it fit tighter. I then put some dielectric grease inside the connector, plugged it back in, and finally wrapped the whole thing in tape so that it could not wiggle. NICE TIGHT CONNECTION. My EGR solenoid CEL went off by itself, and my car drives great.
I noticed that every other connector on my car was very tight and had grease already on it from the factory. So, I decide to try it on this connector. I am very happy. I will try and get a pic, but this is not to difficult to do.
