hey, i had a question about the gs-t exhaust. does the actual stock cat-back exhaust from the gst bolt up to our cars? or is it just the muffler? thx

im pretty sure a stock gs-t will bolt up... the only difference is an extra resinator and the muffler is more free-flowing. alot of guys put on gs-t mufflers cos it gives gains, but no low-end loss. i welded on a magnaflow and noticed some top-end gain and quicker revs...no low end loss.

I'm 98% sure that a stock cat-back form a GS-T is the same size as ours. Hence, you only really need the rear section. I reserve the 2% that I could be wrong :P

So, should i just put a muffler on my stock piping? i bought a N1 muffler from a friend brand new without a silencer, i figure i would get that welded to the gs-t piping then bolt the whole thing up, but i guess i can just have it welded to my stock exhuast if the gs-t is the same, what do u guys think?

six of one half dozen of the other. GST exhaust will look more stock, but if you're gonna do it use the whole cat-back. That second resonator will keep the GST muffler from dronning at highway speed.

Both my wife and I put a GS-T muffler on the stock n/a piping. Hers is an auto, mine is a manual. I personally don't think either of our cars are all that loud. And yes, the muffler is a direct bolt up. I didn't notice much at the high end, but the low end is definitely more peppy.

yep. aftermarket GS-T cat-backs will fit on 2gnt's, but be careful that some of them have 3" piping diamater. would be loud and slow on a normally asperated 2gnt. lots of your low end torque will disappear.

My 99RS catback actually had much cleaner welds, so I used the RS piping, and a GS-T muffler. All you need to replace is the muffler.

The only difference between our cars and the factory turbo exhaust is the downpipe, and a small 4" resonator near the rear that is nearly useless.

For a nonturbo, any 2G catback will work, but you want 2.25 or 2.5" max. piping diameter.

What about cutting the muffler off and having just a striaght pipe with a tip? There is a kid here who has it done, its loud as hell. I think he kept the cat, just cut it from there back, no muffler. What do you think that does performance wise?

Whoever thinks a GS-T muffler is loud or drones. Don't ever get an aftermarket performance exhaust.

A straight pipe instead of a muffler will free up the high end, but be loud as hell, which you know. Not a set-up I'd recommend. Get a nice muffler and enjoy a better sound.

At idle, a GS-T muffler is barely louder than the stock muffler. Matter of fact if I hadn't changed it myself, I wouldn't have noticed the difference in sound. It's only till after 3k rpm that it starts sounding meaner... and even then it's not that loud. However, unlike the stock muffler, it does have a nice little drone on the highway at 3500 rpm but still nothing that would annoy the heck outta you.

I like the vinyl on your hood..I was considering doing that myself, but kinda offsetting it on either side...any recommendations as to companies to use or tips on putting it on?
