50303, ECU talk.....
Posted by MrSlick, May-01-03 04:28 PM
All,

What was the result of someone sending their ECU to someone for chipping? Any news back form them?

Does anyone have a pic of the inside oif a 2G 96+ ecu?
Does anyone have a spare 99 ecu that they would be willing to part with for some testing?

Howdy,

I'm looking for an 99 MT ecu mainly..... but an 99 AT ecu could be usefull........

I'm have the capabilites to chip/recode our ecu's if it is possible.... so pics and or access to an ecu could be very usefull... if successfull, anyone contributing would get a free chip...

I have an 99 MT with custom turbo kit, so I can quickly test any work... just want to keep mine to compare...

The prom is integrated into the board, it would have to be reflashed.

Have you done this before? Do you have new fuel and timing maps? An ECU is not something you can just radomly plug numbers in and hope for the best, you really need to know what's going on.

Considering all the crap AFX went through to get 1 year of our computer to work with a reflash I highly doubt you'll be able to do crap with ours.

BTW if you're looking for a 99 ecu you can get a 98 too, same thing.

Well...

Let me share my thoughts....

I work for www.centroidcnc.com
We manufacture CNC controls....
And we have just decided to start producing performance car parts.... mainly 2GNT parts... cause I have one.

Theres a number of things I have in mind.... one of which is examining the ECU to see what is possible with it.... But bear in mind we have a staff on mechanical and electrical engineers, plus around 7 programmers.... so we have the manpower and the brain power....

To be honest though, I dont think there is much point reprogramming our ecu.... time is better spent with either an extra injecor controllor, or a complete new ECU.
Right now here's a list of things I have in mind, and in case you were wondering, everything will be LESS than the competitors price... thats a promise... I aim to help out my fellow 2GNT friends....

1.) 60mm TB
2.) Intake manifold, to take advantage of the 60mm TB.
3.) Intake manifold as above, but with 4 extra injector boses
4.) Saturated/ peak & hold injestor driver - allows our ECU to drive peak and hold injectors, without having to worry about damagind the ecu or injectors.
5.) Piggy back ecu moddule, to control larger injectors, same as above but with boost controlable pulse width change....
6.) EIC controller....

These are just my first planned projects.... I hope to have 1, 2, 3, 4 abd maybe 6 ready for the DSM meat in OH in july.....

Well, let me know what you guys think, or any ideas that you have...

I would love to see an ECU that could be interfaced with to change base injector size, as well as extending the maps into positive manifold pressure. Also, if it could be somewhat programmed like a DSMLink (TM), all the better!

Okay, the knowledge and ability is there, and I'm not at all trying to deture you from doing this. Do any of your programmed have automotive experience? Fuel and timing maps are not easy to create. I just want to make sure you don't get halfwaythrough the p
I would love to see more products available, especially the TB intake manifold combo sounds interesting.

I'll keep you all informed of what happens....

The simpler stuff will be worked on first.... And I plan on having samples installed on my Eclipse in time for the OH DSM meet....
