I have a 95 Rs and i want to get some head work done....I dont know much about it...Can i get some help on where to start. I would like to do that before getting all the bolt on for my car.

uhm.....intake ports on head, exhaust ports on head, valve seats (put in oversized valves), intake manifold runners/tb opening, and your throttle body.


If you had to ask this question, you'd better be shipping those parts off cuz you don't want to attempt a head port or tb port if you don't know what you're doing. It's extremely difficult to get right and one slip can cost you a new part.

The answer depends on what you plan for the car. a mild street engine, you don't want to use oversized valves and port and polish in the extreme. What are your plans for the car?

I'm planning to purchase a turbo system from hahns craft, but before i want do that I would like to do whatever is need to my motor for it to handle a turbo system. My 95 rs have 80,000 miles on it.

definitely do the TB yourself, just make sure you have steady hands and a dremmel that WON'T break, (i broke my dremmel, so the job is only half done) but the gains from the TB are great, well, to me they were and i'm not even finished with it!!!

remove the humpy hump in the tb, you will see it

haha doing the TB with a dremel is a joke, I've been porting my TB with my air powered die grinder for about a week already for like an hour everyday and that thing is barely at like 55 mm right now and it tapers inward but I really can't do much about the tapering since I don't wanna touch the spot where the throttle plate is sitting.

if you have a lotta time on your hands a good die grinder go for the home port and polish. Remember you gotta take the stuff of b4 you start porting because you'll get those aluminum flakes all over the place.

so far I've port and polished as far as I could reach on my exhusat manifold, head, intake maniold, TB opening is ported to 60mm haha its not so round nomore though =P

what you wanna do is gasket match the runners and stuff by tracing the gasket on the mating surfaces with a pencil or something. Then grind away with a stone then go to a 40 grit roll then a 60 grit, then a 120 grit (i used a flap wheeel) then a crossbuff and some WD40 to smoothen it out. Its not very hard but it takes a lot of TIME.

^^^ oh man! die grinders take forever. i used a cutting bit on a dremmel, it only took me half an hour. when i was about done removing metal (little left), and then start polishing it broke, should have only been another hour
