Target idle not reached within 200 rpm(M/T)

It means that your car is having a problem coming down to the proper idle. Do you have a high or low idle right now?

jeep t/b swap, but when i swaped the idle air control plunger took them apart without measuring the distance the jeep one stuck out, witch brings me to my next question, how far is it supposed to stick out? and one more, what did you guys do to bore out the hole in the intake manifold to fit the jeep tb , and is the manifold to head gasket reusable? thanks for everything

Hey allright, another Jeep TB swap. Did you use my writeup? :thumbsup

So I'm guessing here that you have high idle?

It's either gonna be a vaccuum leak - or a spring tension issue.

Try this. Open the hood. Start the engine. Close the throttle plate so it is totally closed by hand. If the idle comes down, then you have a spring tension issue. If not, then you have a vaccuum leak.

Check for vaccuum leaks. Make sure that the secondary port is totally plugged. Make sure that you have a thick enough gasket to make a good seal at the TB.

I'm not sure if the manifold to head gasket is reusable. Did it rip on you when you took it apart. If it didn't rip then it's probably ok. Make sure You've tightened down the manifold good - the vaccuum leak could be there as well.

As far as the tip is concerned. Some people have noticed that it does make a diffference how far in or out the tip is. But don't worry about that right now, try to see if you can find a vaccuum leak at the gasket or at the secondary air port or at the intake manifold gasket(I guess you removed the intake manifold).

ya i used youre writeup, it was very informative, and yes i did take the upper manifold off because i didnt want to have to buy an new gasket and i knew i would just be able to make one for the upper and lower intake mannys out of the same stuff i made the tb gasket from. thanks for youre help.

Yeah could be. I have taken the upper manifold off - from a spare manifold that I bought. That gasket was pretty good, but not reusable - it ripped/stuck to the mani around the bolt holes. There was no lower gasket on tihs particular manifold...but I got a new upper and lower gaskets at the dealer for $14(thats for both gaskets).

Be careful with this test. Try spraying some wd40 at these new gaskets while the engine is running. If the idle goes down then you've found a leak.

I use brake cleaner, as it doesn't leave a residue. It's all the same, though...
