I just painted my valve cover using high temp paint. I sanded the letters so they would be silver/polished. Do I need to clear coat it with a high temp clear or is it ok the way it is. Thanks guys!

I'd hit it with a high-temp clear coat. I've tried it both ways. Without a clear coat, it oxidized over time. With the clear coat, it stays shiny.

What kind of paint did you use. I've been thinking about doing the same thing, I just didn't think paint would work. I thought everybody was getting them powdercoated.

I used Plasti-coat Engine Enamel. Im happy with it. Its good till 500 degrees. They also make a paint thats good till 1500 degrees, but I think its overkill.

I just used some Dupli-Color engine paint with ceramic from AutoZone. I got hi-temp primer, Mopar red, and clear coat. Unfortunately, the relative humidity was too high the day I did mine, and it got all wrinkly after a couple days on the engine... :P

i used the overkill paint. did my exhaust manifold, turbo, valve cover, and upper intake manifold with it. the paint on the turbo/exhaust manifold burned off for the most part, but it left behind a nice black residue.



EDIT: almost forgot. i did my EGR pipe and that goofy looking intercooler pipe with that paint too. used clear coat on the intercooler pipe, but ran out before i could do the valve cover or intake manifold.
