49291, Exhaust question....

Hey fuckers! j/k

I got a question.. anyone familiar with Extreme's 3" Turboback exhaust? It includes downpipe, Extreme's 3" catback and a racepipe. Well I got a good deal on one used for like 600 or so for the whole package.. however that's not really the point but uh yeah.. ok.. say i buy a downpipe and a 3" catback exhaust for my GST. Would there be a difference in performance with using a racepipe versus a high flow cat? I mean having a downpipe, 3" catback exhaust and high flow cat you should still be able to pass emissions. However, with the race pipe you can't. So instead of putting a race pipe on wouldn't it be better to put a high flow cat on so yu wont have to take out the racepipe every 2 years when you go get your emissions checked? Or does the racepipe give you more performance rather than a high flow cat? Thanks. i love you all.

I think the best way for a turbo car is to have the race pipe because u want as little back pressure as possible to help ur turbo spool
up quicker. If i was u i would get the race pipe and just put in ur stock cat when its time for inspection. :thumbsup

Yeah if you are looking to squeeze all the hp you can then yes the racepipe will give you more over the high flow. Ad of course the race pipe is only for racing, no road use... that would be illegal... ;)

So could I use a stock cat with a downpipe and 3" catback exhaust? Will it mess anything up? I mean if I were to put the stock on just for the emissions test?

at most you'll get a cel from not having the cat... the cat's just for emissions an stuff. weren't you looking into an apexi N1 before? i thought that was you. road race makes down pipes w/ either high flow cats or straight pipes that bolt directly up to the n1. if you use your stock cat, the N1 has an extra flange for going to the stock size cat outlet. when you replace the DP an stuff you ditch the flange so it's pretty much 3" all the way through.
