4917, Exhaust idea. Opinions
Posted by Michael_97RS, Jul-10-01 02:07 AM
After seeing a couple of dual exhausts on our cars, I want one!

I will install a Brospeed Header and a 2.5" High Flow Cat. Then get custom pipeing 2.5" back. Do you guys think I should install any type of Resonator? I don't want it to be "too" loud. When I split the piping to go to the mufflers should I stick with 2.5" or have 2.25" piping go to each muffler?

I am planning on using either two Thermal Mufflers or Two Borla Mufflers (probably Borla).

Thought?

I think you should go with two Arospeed DTM mufflers! ;-) :p

When I have the money I'm doing it! It's my next... Stage.

Skrilla what are your thought on the piping set up? 2.5" all the way or 2.5" to 2.25"? resonator or no? Keep in mind you know about what I want my final set up to be.

oh man, do you really wanna do that? I mean are you actually going to have dual exhaust? if yes, please don't it's too ricey :) and it will slow down the exh flow a lot by having to go throw 2 pipes and 2 mufflers.

just my 0.2 cents

Really Adel? You think dual exhaust is ricey? I'm not talking about two fart cans. I want dual 3" tips on each side. Dual exhaust always showed power to me. ricey?

who am I to call dual exh ricey :) man I have tons of stickers on my car :P it sure looks faster with the stickers on, but it ain't :(

anyway I just think that you will be spending money to make your car possibly go slower, that's all. there is a guy around here who has a GS-T with dual mufflers and everyone I know makes hella fun of him, I also make fun of him not for the fact that he has dual exh, just for the fact that he keeps telling people that his GS-T AT puts out 700 HP WTF, the guy does not even have bigger injectors, he has like FMIC, 18G and a bunch of other crap like AFC and EBC. ah he also has 2 nos bottles that for some reasons are not hooked to the engine at all ! !

anyway man if you like the idea of having dual exh, go for it with all means, I did not, and I still don't give a crap about what people tell me about what to put and what not to put in/on my car, I might if it would be their money that I am spending.

good luck bro

I learned long ago not to care what people think of me... in most cases. I've just never heard anybody call dual exhaust ricey. Added to my confusion at work, there's enough confusion here }>

I don't think I should be too bad HP wise. In a way we have two mufflers now... a resonator and a true muffler. If I remove the resonator and run larger piping I think I'll be okay. 2.5" pipe back to two higher flow Mufflers from Borla. Each Muffler doesn't have to handle as much flow through it, the only thing I worry about is loosing soem low end torque. Besides... hopefully I can make enough power NA to not notice he he oh BTW what's the update with yoru cams etc, last I remember they still didn't have them as a drop in without indexing? Did you get them installed?

I laughed my ass off at the guy with dual exhaust non-functioning NOS and boasting 700hp... thanks I needed that laugh. Next time he starts that $h!t tell him to move the decimal place.

Just a question, Isn't 2'5" piping all the way back too big. And then going into two pipes? You back pressure don't you? Which means decreased hp

Once I've bumped compression up to 11.5:1 and had all my head work and cams done I don't think 2.5" is too much... I am concidering when the pipe splits going down to 2.25" piping back to each muffler (probably what I'll do). I want at least 200hp at the crank preferably at the wheels }>

I got the cams, valve springs, cam gears, and the PT rockers and lifters. the head is being milled and cleaned as we speak, the same shop is going to degree my cams, the guy will actually come to my house and we will do it here (this way I won't have to tow the car to his shop, he is a cool guy)

I am hoping I will have her running within a week at the most.
