How much have you guys been paying for used trannys? I am going to buy one here shortly and I need an idea of how much I should be spending.

Found one on car-parts.com localy off a 95 DOHC neon for $350. Is there anything else I should ask them to make sure it will work on my car?

Dave and anyone else for that matter -- please confirm though -- you can only use the internals from the neon -- the bell housing won't fit -- isn't that a little bit too much work?? Especially since you would only need to spend around 200 more for an eclipse tranny?

No dude.. the gear case is exactly the same, all the mount points are the same, and even the bellhousing would bolt up[ and fit just fine. Only problem, 95-99 Neons use a cable clutch, we have a hydralic setup. So, all you have to do is put your clutch housing on the neon gear case and voila, 2gnt transmission. Or do you wanna pay $200 more?

Wow, thats actually some information I needed to know. I've been looking for about the past week for a tranny for my car, 95 GS. I've been asking EVERYONE if I could use a tranny from a 99, but it doesnt look like I can. Something with the electrical shit doesnt match up. Anyway, I never even thought about looking for a Neon tranny. Maybe now I can find one a little easier. If anyone has any suggestions or knows of one for sale, PM me or hit me up on AIM: BT802 if you can. Thanks for any help.

Note that is for manual transmissions only. An auto would probably bolt right up, but the electronics could very well be different.

All 95-99 2GNT transmissions are interchangeable. You may need to swap your sensors as the harness plugs changed in 96, but other than that, all mechanically identicle.

So if one has a 96 Eclipse RS, a 95-99 DOHC Neon tranny bolts right up? No internal gear, differential or bellhousing swap? Just the clutch housing? I am in RS Heaven!!!:thumbsup

"Clutch housing" is just another term for bell housing. The bell housing is what contains the clutch or torque converter.

It WILL bolt right up, but the 95-99 Neons use a cable clutch, where we have a hydralic system. You have to swap the clutch (bell) housing so that you have a place to mount your slave cylinder.
