48722, Unknown CEL update... Posted by My9t5Talon, Apr-09-03 10:11 AM
I disconnected the battery last night to let it sit (because I turned on my stereo and no bump from the back subs.), and reconnected it this morning and tried to jump it...but...low and behold...new CEL!!!...#12 this time...so I'm looking in my Chilton's and it points me to the IAT, Intake Air Temp. sensor (or something like that)...
...is it talking about the one up by the intake manifold and the TB (because I also read there is something in the AirBox, but I have an AEM CAI on now)??? Would you guys recommend me to just replace it...and is it easy???
Thanx for all the help to get it back on the road!!!

Chiltons is wrong.
Code 12 is "battery has been disconnected within the last 50 key-on cycles."

Dino is right, 12 is normal, indicating your battery was disconnected.
Anytime the battery is disconnected, you should always get codes of 12 and 55. this is perfectly normal. It is the codes between 12 and 55 that you have to worry about.

...alrighty...got some new parts installed...MSD Coil pack, NGK plugs, and MSD wires...still making the grinding noise :rolleyes (it's pissing me off)...took the starter off and am heading to pepboys to see if it's bad (if only I knew how to test it myself)...hopefully they have one there...
...what else could I be possibly missing??? Does this even sound electrical to you guys, because my dad was kinda' pointing me towards a cracked flywheel (he said that could be the culprit...true?)?
...the battery is good, but if all else fails, I do so want a new Optima battery (anyone have dimensions of theirs?)...

If it wont start, I would check the starter. However, if it will start, check the alternator bearing. I had that go on my Avenger, and it made a horrible screeching noise that increased with rpms. Did you see the battery light come on when you were driving (or not driving)?
