48571, 2.2L and 2.5L interchangeability.... Posted by tacoman123, Apr-07-03 11:47 AM
I was wondering..
Can I get a 2.2L or a 2.5L bottom out of the early Chryslers (T2s), and bolt that onto my stock/unmodified head?
Considering they have the same bore, I was just wondering..

Most of these engines were 8 Valve SOHC so the pistons would need some modding for valve clearance issues but I don't know if the bolt pattern is even the same.

Why would you want to?
The whole timing belt assembly is different, our oil pump is on the end of the crank, the oil pump in on the bottom of the distributor in that motor. There is too much different about the motor that even if the block would bolt up, I wouldn't recommend it. I doubt you could even wrap atiming belt aroun dit without difficulty, assuming you could find a timing belt of the right legnth, etc.
