hey guys, i know its been posted before (long time ago) but what prices did you guys get at a machine shop for your stuff
like
crank grind-
hot tank, mag, bore, hone, and deck-
valve job-
etc etc
is surfacing the head the same as deck the head or whatever?
also to balance rotating assembly-
thanks

Complete head and block rebuild was $372.75. (no parts included)

This included the whole assembly, resurfacing, boring, steaming...etc. I was not able to have my assembly re-balanced though since none of the machine shops do that around here. Not everyone finds that feature to be of the most ultimate of importance, though.

so far the best prices i can find for machine work is $398
mag, surface block, bore,hone,
mag crank, polish, and grind
as far as the head, valve job, ( whats the difference between std, and deluxe?), and thats all
bad part is that this machine shop wont install the parts for me, unless i buy it from them, to bad i already bought most of my parts.
im thinking about asking my friend whos a mechanic at mitsu who rebuilds different types of engines mostly 420a ( he owns a 1g awd talon ) hehe.. so a fair price to install all bottom and top end should be $400 give or take a bit?
really when do you get it balanced? when you build the bottom end and measure everything for clearances etc?
thanks

Yeah the price for isn't as outrageous as you think.

And I happen to be one of the people who REALLY think you should balance the assembly... Jason... :nono

Should have let me know you were having problems finding a place t balance the assembly, I could have found you a shop... up by me, but hey... An excuse to visit and your wife could have visited her parents. And since I'll be using a shop in Aurora for my head, would have been close.
