47928, SERVICE ENGINE SOON Posted by importzrule, Mar-31-03 01:34 PM
Ok, I have a service engine soon light on and there are no bad effects that I can notice from my car, i take the car to autozone for a free diagnostic and nothing shows up, i disconnect the battery, 2 days later, the light is back on, i have a 1 year warranty but have modifications to my car and am afraid they will void my warranty if they find out since I cant find all the pieces of my original intake piping, is there a way i can turn my key so many times to get a Code Error reading from the Service engine soon light flashing? Any help highly appreciated!:-(

It depends on what year car you have. On my 97 I can do it. YOu just turn the key to the "on" position and back three times and leave it on the "on" position on the third time. Then start counting flashes on the light.
But the CEL in my car just reminds me that I am making some horse power...lol

he's a 99 so he can't do the key dance. You will have to have someone read the code or buy obd-2.com software/cable and read your own

They can't void your warranty for having an intake unless they can prove that the intake directly caused the failure you're trying to have fixed under warranty.

Thats all fun and good in theory -- but you know what the headache of having to fight them is gonna be a long long wait before he has his car fixed... I once got warranty work on my power door lock denied because i was lowered -- wtf right?? Took me 3 days of fighting with them to get the work paid for...waste of time.

hey Ryan. It's Adam from indycarz. I should have a stock intake if you need to borrow it. Just let me know.
