Ok ... took my car down to the local garage and they diagnosed a problem. They said it was a possible front transmission seal leak. His words: "Leak around clutch boot (rubber) and oil leaking around outside of bell housing".

They might as well have told me I have a Flux Capacitor for all I know about what that means. Anyway the car is under warranty, but I would like to go to the Mitsubishi dealership armed with a little more info than I have.

Explanations? Help?

That's smart that your going to the dealer armed with the knowledge because most of the time, they are gonna fuck with you when it comes to 'under warranty' repairs. Hell they might even say that your CV joints are leaking. Just be careful and be firm with your words. Good luck though. Sorry I'm not able to help address your problem, I have an AT!!!!!

guess what, I have the exact same problem as you do! oil is dripping down my clutch boot...although its not that much. my clutch chatters like hell now and I don't know if the oil got on the clutch disk either...but it doesnt matter, I'm upgrading my clutch soon...oh about you problem I'm not sure but I think its the rear main seal thats leaking oil from the engine to the trans..

OR it COULD BE the Head GASKET! i had the exact same diagnosis, but when i brought it to my independant mech he put it on the lift and discovered that the leak was coming from my HG running down the back of the engine and landing right on the rear main seal making it look like the rear main was leaking. if you know someone that has a garage get under the car and look what can it cost you 35 to 60 $$? better than 600$$ or more. even if you have to jack the car up yourself and climb underneathe it's better than giving mitsu any $$. :-)
